The 501st Legion were invited to be in The Mandalorian
When Jon Favreau needed Stormtroopers to appear in the penultimate episodes of their hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian, he didn't call LucasFilms' prop department. He called on the experts: the 501st Legion!
The fan organization is known for their adherence to screen-accurate costumes. and they were just what the showrunners of The Mandalorian needed. Instead of blowing their budget on fabricating trooper armors for extras, they just called up some members of the 501st, who already own and make their own screen-accurate armors ready to go! Imagine making Star Wars props so accurate, the people who literally made Star Wars want your expertise!
Topher Grace made an amazing Star Wars trailer out of the movies
Yes, that Topher Grace. The Spider-Man and BlacKkKlansman actor showed off his love for Star Wars by editing Episodes 1 through 9 and Rogue One into a single supercut trailer entitled Star Wars: Always that showcases what made the movies so special. And all because he was bored. Not only is the supercut a surprising display of artistry, skill with video editing, and just all-around nerdiness (who had the time to watch all 10 movies to get the best parts? Topher Grace, that's who), it's also pretty good!
And this isn't even the first time Grace made something out of the Star Wars movies. He also cut and trimmed the prequels and turned it into an 85-minute short film entitled Star Wars: Episode III.5: The Editor Strikes Back, which he screened to a select few industry friends. It's supposedly so good, fans have been looking for leaks ever since.
Stan Munro made an Imperial Star Destroyer out of toothpicks
Stan Munro is a master of building stuff out of toothpicks. He even has an exhibit of all his incredible toothpick structures. He's done miniature monuments such as the Taj Mahal and the Empire State Building, but nothing blows the mind more than his Imperial Star Destroyer made entirely out of toothpicks!
The model is almost 5 feet long and made with over 15,000 toothpicks, a stunning sight that would give even the hardiest of Rebel pilots the chills. It's so awesome, it's recognized by the Guinness World Records as the largest Star Wars toothpick structure in the world!
Steve Sansweet owns the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia
A movie franchise like Star Wars is bursting with merchandise, and it looks like one man owns at least one of every copy of it. Steve Sansweet has been a lifetime fan of Star Wars, going so far as to working for LucasFilms and becoming their Fan Relations head. While he's not keeping tabs on what the fans want, he was busy collecting Star Wars memorabilia of every shape and size.
Over the years he's amassed so much Star Wars-related stuff, he had to buy literal barns to house it all, which resulted in Rancho Obi-Wan, home to the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia in the world! Expect nothing less from the guy who literally wrote the book on Star Wars collecting!
Filipino Star Wars fans keep building amazing Sinulog floats
The Sinulog Festival in Cebu, Philippines is a very big deal. Every year, people from all walks of life take part in the loud and colorful parades. And since 2015, the 501st Cebu Scarif Garrison has been building incredible Star Wars-themed floats for the festival!
They've built an almost full-sized X-Wing, Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer, and a massive 1:230 scale Star Destroyer float, all of which were paraded in Sinulog to critical acclaim. The floats together with Stormtroopers and Imperial officers marching alongside them make for a stunning image that had fans all over the country talking!
